KEY and Selected Releases
The Sessionography presents every recording that has had an authorized release, as well as unissued studio recordings with vocals, backing tracks without vocals, and unrecorded titles that had been slated for held or canceled sessions. The Radio Transcriptions section of the Discography contains many additional recordings that have not been officially released.
The "Selected Releases" are not intended as comprehensive lists of every known appearance of a recording, but rather as guides to noteworthy records, CDs, DVDs and tapes. Bootlegs and gray market items are not included in the Discography.
The purpose of the "KEY" indicator is to highlight historically significant releases for each recording: original singles, V-Discs, complete recordings box sets, and first appearances on albums (in many cases, the primary concept albums; in other cases, best of/greatest hits and retrospective compilations). The biographical collections are also listed as key: Nancy Sinatra's Frank Sinatra: An American Legend book CDs and the 1992 Sinatra CBS-TV mini-series soundtrack.
If a recording has had only one authorized release (such as many of the radio and movie soundtrack recordings), that appearance, of course, is key. A non-U.S. single is key if there was no domestic issue in any format at the time of initial release. To be as concise as possible, alternate formats and international editions are listed in "Related Releases" via links to Albums, Singles and EPs.
